ELDI, the aquaculture division of the Hampiðjan Group, will participate in Aqua-Ice 2026, taking place at Harpa in Reykjavík on 29–30 September. The event brings together representatives from the Icelandic and international aquaculture industry to share knowledge, discuss developments in the sector and present new solutions and technologies.
Hampiðjan has previously presented its aquaculture activities at Aqua-Ice through Vónin in the Faroe Islands and Mørenot in Norway. This year, however, the activities will be presented under ELDI, following the integration of the aquaculture operations of these companies into a single international company at the beginning of the year. ELDI brings together the Group’s expertise, production and services for the aquaculture industry, covering equipment, services and technical solutions for sea-based fish farming.
Several solutions developed by ELDI for sea-based aquaculture will be presented at the event, including BioSeize, a system designed to collect feed residues and other organic waste before it reaches the seabed; MarWall, a semi-closed solution for sea pens; and MarDeep, a submersible fish farming system.
Development of these solutions has continued since the last Aqua-Ice event, and all three have now progressed to full-scale trials and pilot operation.
BioSeize has taken a significant step forward through an agreement with Norwegian aquaculture company Lerøy Sjøtroll to install the system at its farming site at Blom in Norway. A ConeCollect net has been installed beneath the pen, together with the Fish/It pumping system, to collect the material and transfer it for further treatment and potential utilisation.
MarWall has been installed at Bremnes Seashore in Bømlo, Norway, where it has been in operation since early summer, with promising results to date.
MarDeep has been fully designed and tested in operation, and is now awaiting approval before fish can be introduced into the pen.
Aqua-Ice has established itself as an important forum for Icelandic and international aquaculture. The event focuses on developments within the industry, research, technology and the challenges associated with the continued growth of aquaculture.
Representatives from ELDI will be at the exhibition stand on both days to welcome visitors interested in learning more about the company’s solutions, equipment and services, or discussing developments and needs within the aquaculture industry.
