Morenot Iceland, a subsidiary of Hampidjan, has now been merged with Hampidjan Iceland. This merger is an important step towards streamlining operations, achieving operational efficiency, and expanding Hampidjan Iceland’s product and service offerings in relation to fishing supplies, thereby better meeting the needs of the Icelandic fishing industry.

Morenot Iceland Ltd. was originally founded in 1978 under the name Sjóvélar Ltd., and the company has a long history in the Icelandic fishing industry. At the beginning of 2017, after Mørenot Fishery in Norway acquired a majority stake in the company, its name was changed to Morenot Iceland Ltd. Last year, Hampidjan acquired the Mørenot group in Norway, making Morenot Iceland a subsidiary of Hampidjan.

The goal of Morenot Iceland has been to lead in the service and sales of products for the longline fleet with the Dyrkorn fishing line and Catch hooks, and it has established a strong position in the Icelandic market. All of the company’s brands are well-established domestically, and the company also develops and manufactures equipment for longline fishing, baiting machines, line brushes, and electric line haulers, which have proven to be highly effective.

Hampidjan Iceland is known for its wide range of fishing gear and supplies for the fishing industry, and this will further increase with the products that Morenot Iceland has offered. This merger, along with the integration of the operational supplies department of Voot last month with Hampidjan Iceland, makes Hampidjan Iceland an even stronger supplier for Icelandic fishing and fish processing companies, now catering to the needs of all, from the smallest to the largest companies.

Hampidjan’s stores in Reykjavik, Ísafjörður, Neskaupstaður, and Vestmannaeyjar will continue to be important hubs for service and product distribution, and the stores in Akureyri and Ólafsvík will continue to serve their areas, with a focus on specialized products for their local communities.

The operations and warehouse of the merged company will be located at Hampidjan’s headquarters at Skarfabakki in Sundahöfn, and the transition will not involve significant changes for customers and suppliers.
