Hampidjan celebrates 80th birthday at IceFish

The IceFish exhibition is being held from the 25th to the 27th of September and, as always, Hampidjan is there with a prominent presence in the main hall at the Smárinn centre. The company has taken part in every Icelandic Fisheries Exhibition since the first event was held in the Reykjavík in 1984.

‘Hampidjan turned 80 this year and we expect to celebrate the occasion at the exhibition,’ said the company’s fishing gear sales director Haraldur Árnason.

‘In the light of the company’s anniversary this year there will be a larger than usual stand at the exhibition and we will be making an extra effort to introduce our own products as well as those of our subsidiary companies overseas,’ he said, commenting that the stand this time measures 117 square metres and around twenty of the company’s staff are expected to be taking turns manning it.

Among the products being presented are Gloria self-spreading trawls, DynIce Warps, DynIce Data sounder cable, DynIce sweeplines, DynIce Quickline, Apollo Xstream doors, V-rigged trawl doors, materials and purse seines from Badinotti and the Hemmer T90 trawl from Fjardanet. All of these products and production methods will be there with both displays and samples at the stand.

‘We expect to welcome staff from most of our ten overseas divisions to Iceland as part of the company’s 80th anniversary, and that means we have people coming to Iceland from every corner of the world,’ Haraldur Árnason said.
