Development of Hampiðjan’s new industrial site in Auric, India, is progressing well. Two large production halls are currently under construction, each covering 28,000 m², along with a 1,200 m² employee service building and a 2,000 m² office building. The total floor area in this phase is therefore 59,200 m². Planning approval has also been granted for a further 16,000 m², which will be developed at a later stage.
To put the size of the production halls into perspective, each building covers an area equivalent to four full-size football pitches. Construction of the first large building is well advanced, and it is expected to be ready for handover at the end of October. This building will be used for the production of aquaculture nets. The second large building will accommodate the production of nets for both aquaculture and fishing gear and is expected to be completed around the end of the year. The office and employee service buildings are due to follow shortly afterwards, early next year.
The development in Auric was initiated following Hampiðjan’s acquisition of the Indian company Kohinoor and is intended to strengthen the Group’s production capacity in aquaculture and fishing gear.
Once operations in Auric are fully established, around 750 people are expected to work at the site. The development will provide Hampiðjan with greater scope to expand the production of aquaculture nets and fishing gear netting, while also drawing on the combined knowledge and experience of Kohinoor and Hampiðjan in these fields.
